Senior Hamas official in Gaza Muhmad Nasr announced the letter from Noam Shalit will be given to his son, IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, being held captive by Hamas since June 2006. The letter made its way to the terror organization via French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who received the letter from Mr. Shalit.Nasr stated that even though negotiations towards Shalit’s release have broken down with Israel, the letter will be handed to the soldier. He emphasized that no talks whatsoever are in progress with Israel regarding the release of prisoners.
Hamas officials in Damascus announced over the weekend that while they cannot say if the letter has been given to Gilad, they can say the letter made its way to Gaza.
