Oslo, Norway - Jewish Museum Opens In Oslo

(IsraelNN.com) A new Oslo Jewish Museum and a cultural center have been established in an old synagogue that was closed down by the Nazis in 1942. The museum was opened this week with an exhibition of Norwegian poet Henrik Wergeland, who is a symbol of freedom for Norwegian Jews.

He fought in the 19th century for removal of a paragraph in the Norwegian constitution that prohibited Jews from living in the country. The clause was removed in 1851, six years after his death.
