Koch Endorses Obama

Though Koch is a lifelong Democrat, he backed President Bush for re-election in 2004. Koch said at the time he thought Bush was better equipped to combat international terrorism than Democrat John Kerry was.

This year, Koch says the country would be safer in Obama's hands than in John McCain's. Koch says that defending the U.S. means more than defending it from foreign attacks. He says it includes protecting civil rights and civil liberties.

Koch says he is troubled by the record of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin in those areas.
