The Levaya began at the Bobover Beis Medrash on 15th Avenue and 48th Street in Boro Park. Tehillim was said, after which the Rebbetzin's only son, the Bobover Rebbe, R' Benzion Halberstam, addressed the thousands packed into the Beis Medrash.
Upon the completion of the Bobover Rebbe's Hesped, Kel Molei Rachamim was recited, after which the Bobover Rebbe traveled with a large number of Chasidim to Washington Cemetary in Deans, N.J. where the Rebbetzin was buried.
The Rebbetzin was the daughter of the Cheshinever Rebbe, R' Aryeh Leibish Halberstam, who was a grandson of the Divrei Chaim, R' Chaim Halberstam of Sanz. During World War II she escaped with her family to Russia, and after years of exile and suffering, emigrated to America at the war's end. In 1947, she married the Bobover Rebbe, R' Shlomo Halberstam, who had lost his wife and all but one of his children to the Nazis.
The Rebbetzin leaves behind several daughters and one son, the current Bobover Rebbe, R' Benzion Halberstam.
