Only in Israel – A Huge Community Without a Shul

Israel’s Channel Ten TV station showed a startling report on erev Yom Kippur. The Kochav Hatzafon neighborhood in Tel Aviv, which has a population of around 5,000 families, does not have a shul.
The local Chabad shliach took matters into his own hands, however, with the approach of the High Holy Days, and he set up a huge marquee. There, local residents davened on Yom Kippur. During the Channel Ten report, one resident was interviewed, and he detailed the high cost of building and opening a shul, as well as the Tel Aviv municipality’s lack of assistance.
