Winnipeg, Canada - Canada's Lubavitch Centre Runs "Shofar Factory" Workshop

In honor of Rosh Hashanah, Winnipeg's Lubavitch Centre is running a unique “Shofar Factory” workshop designed to break the stereotype of stuffy education. "One of the most important things for us is to educate people with life and warmth," said R’ Avrohom Altein, the center’s director. "Because of the generation gap, it can sometimes be rather dry trying to educate children straight from a book." One of the teachers used a grinding wheel to make his own Shofar yesterday during the workshop, and students enjoyed experimental Shofar blowing. Some sixth graders also had the opportunity to help saw, drill, sand and polish a horn to make kosher Shofros for themselves.
