A synagogue erected at Russian army base

The Jewish community of Orenburg, led by Rabbi Goel Myers, provided assistance for the military division’s session by temporarily providing a Torah scroll for use by Rabbi Gurevich. After meeting with community members in Orenburg, where the FJC Russia official spoke about the activity of the army division’s activities and upcoming course of studies.
Participants in the military exercise learned how to set up a field Synagogue, which was developed and carried out during their studies. Rabbi Gurevich told trainees about the specific character of work with Jews, about the Synagogue, its religious objects and tradition. For this he brought a number of books and ritual items with him from Moscow, including the Rosh Hashanah favorite – the shofar.
