Parents line up in support of Jewish high school set to open in '09

Each weekday morning, Riva Silverman drives her eldest daughter and son from their home in Norwalk to Stamford, where, at 7 a.m., the teenagers catch a bus that takes them 20 more miles to Solomon Schechter, a Conservative Jewish day school in Hartsdale, N.Y.

Now, Silverman is interested in sending her children to a new independent Jewish high school that is set to open in Fairfield County next fall. Though it may be closer to home, distance is not the main reason.
