MK Aryeh Eldad (NU/NRP) responded to the police recommendation to indict Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Sunday evening and called on Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz to suspend him.
Eldad said that "the announcement about Olmert has been expected for too long. What's unbearable about the law enforcement system is how slowly the wheels of justice turn."
Eldad joined Meretz MK Galon in calling on the attorney-general to act immediately, saying that "by the time police and the prosecution finish working, indicting and convicting Olmert, the alleged criminal will continue to run the state's affairs. The attorney-general must announce that the prime minister is immediately suspended from his job."
