Two years ago during Simchas Torah, Menachem Vorchheimer, a member of the Jewish community in Melbourne, Australia was attacked by a group of hoodlums and was hospitalized.
Eyewitnesses later said that as Menachem was walking with his two children to shul the hoodlums hurled "Dirty Jews," and "Go to the Nazis," at him.
The case had received wide media coverage at the time but the case wasn't closed and was thrust into a legal battle.
Last night in a rare move, the Victoria Police in Melbourne called a press conference and apologized to Menachem Vorchheimer.
