Crown Heights, NY - Gas Station No Longer Owned by Jews

The Getty gas station on Utica and East New York Avenue is no longer Shomer Shabbos, nor is the restaurant “yellow” kosher anymore, this after the Jewish owner sold the business to Arabs.

Gas pumps at the station proudly proclaimed, in Hebrew, “Shomer Shabbos” and the station boasted a kosher dairy menu of pizza and sandwiches, that was all replaced, the signs came down and the restaurant became a “Boars Head Deli” serving Halal meats.

The owners were Syrian Jews from Canarsie and have sold the business after a few months in operation, due to some financial issues, according to the owners.
